Science and Computing
Science at Knighton is about encouraging and directing children’s abundant natural curiosity. A large and well-equipped laboratory allows for plenty of practical work. The lovely grounds and the new Jubilee pond help our field studies.

Regular Science Days put science at the heart of the curriculum while expeditions to wildlife attractions or field study centres help to broaden the girls’ experience. By Alpha (Year 8) girls are well prepared for Common Entrance in biology, chemistry and physics, or to take scholarship exams to their senior schools.

In ICT children follow a touch-typing program until Year 5. They learn skills in word processing, spreadsheets, presentations, desktop publishing, digital sound, web development and digital art. Coding is also introduced – showing children how to make as well as use digital tools.

Cross-curricular projects are an important part of our work; posters, presentations, web pages, animations and booklets and magazines are all produced in lessons. Every girl has a Knighton email address. Internet access is filtered and supervised; internet safety is monitored and discussed regularly with the pupils.
