Free time
Life at Knighton is busy but free time is an essential part of the day: allowing children to relax, enjoy their surroundings and the company of their friends.

There are regular breaks from lessons and activities and a quiet time for reading after lunch. The lovely grounds and friendly atmosphere encourage children to be imaginative and free in their play, building dens and climbing trees. Free time is also a chance for the years to mix — a feature of this school — and new friendships to form.

Weekends are lively. Saturday afternoons are busy with matches but there is also caring for pets, rollerblading, cycling, and the serious business of unstructured play to attend to. Sunday is for letter writing and for exploring Dorset. Outings might include picnics on top of Hambledon Hill, to treasure hunts in the woods, a trip to the cinema, an excursion to Longleat or an expedition to the Jurassic Coast.
